BEAVERTON, OR, July 11 –We are well into summer and First Friday in downtown Beaverton, sponsored by the Beaverton Downtown Association, continues to offer extended hours during this event. Visitors can meet and greet friends, listen to live music scattered throughout the downtown, browse the numerous independent shops, tour the Beaverton History Center, dine al fresco at Gloria’s Secret Café or Decarli’s, and get a haircut at Beaverton Barber & Coin, Jaleh’s Hair Fashions, or Avenue Salon & Spa. Finally, finish off the evening with complimentary dancing at Arthur Murray Studios starting at 9:15.
Regular hours for participating businesses are extended until 8 p.m. – and in some cases 9 p.m. or later – for this once-a-month evening event. (more…)
2012 SERVICE TO BEAVERTON AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED

BEAVERTON, Ore. — Today, Beaverton Mayor Denny Doyle announced the recipients of the 2012 Service to Beaverton Awards, sponsored by the city of Beaverton and the Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce, during a luncheon at the PCC Rock Creek Event Center. The annual awards ceremony recognizes individuals and organizations that have made long-term, significant contributions to the Beaverton community. Mayor Doyle and Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce President Wendi Eiland presented the awards.

As the majority of readers are likely aware, a survey was recently distributed to collect information about the psychographics of the Beaverton Chamber audience to be used as part of a communication plan. The responses to this survey were as diverse as the reactions. Many respondents were more than willing to provide thoughtful answers and feedback with the understanding that their input would be simultaneously beneficial to themselves, and to the Chamber. The skepticism from others however, has led me to feel the need to explain the purpose of the survey, and how it is connected to the overall objective of the communication plan. After all, the intent of the survey is to ultimately benefit chamber members, not promote confusion. (more…)
