Chamber Endorses May 911 Communications System Bond Measure

March 16th, 2016

Measure 34-243 is Vital for the Safety of Washington County

TVF&R on WCCCA Bond

Firefighters from Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue rely on information from an emergency communications system (911) to answer the community’s calls for help.

Whether it’s a cardiac arrest, house fire, car crash or other emergency, vital details about the location and circumstances of a situation are relayed by dispatchers through a network, which includes transmission towers and radios.

Firefighters rely on this same system to communicate with each other once they’re on a scene. Read full article.

The "Do's" and "Don'ts" of Giving Business Testimonials

January 28th, 2014

The weekly Coffee Connection testimonials are a great way to give kudos to well-deserving businesses and people. The Chamber records and uploads these testimonials to Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest so that the Beaverton community and beyond has the opportunity to hear first-hand about the great service or products these businesses provide. These videos are also available for businesses’ to add to their websites and social media pages. To make these testimonials most effective, and give back to the businesses being boasted about, please keep in mind the following “Do’s” and “Don’ts” when giving a testimonial.

Do:

  • Mention the name of the business, not just the individual in the beginning of your testimonial.
  • Keep testimonials to 30 seconds to respect the business receiving the testimonial.
  • Give one + precise reasons why this business/individual is worth recognizing.
  • Speak clearly.
  • Practice before Friday so you know what you are going to say.
  • Add humor if and when appropriate. Be candid!

Don’t:

  • Mumble or ramble.
  • Mention more than one business.
  • Fail to identify the name of the business.

Thank you for supporting one another as a local business and Beaverton Chamber member. Let the “Chamberizing” continue! Here is an example of a great testimonial!
